  1. What was holding you back?

    I had been trying to secure a job in hospitality for months, but my lack of experience made it difficult. I had aspirations of using hospitality skills to travel overseas, but I was feeling like it was never going to happen because I couldn’t get any experience.

  2. How did you overcome these barriers?

    I participated in the Access Program through Work & Training, which improved my self-confidence and gave me reassurance that my personality suited the hospitality industry, especially front of house service. The course showed me that I really enjoy welcoming and working with customers, so I knew hospitality was the right industry for me. The course gave me the confidence and skills I needed to get work in the industry.

  3. How did W&T help you reach your vision?

    It was great to receive positive feedback from my work placement, and they even offered me a job as soon as the course was completed! I am now much closer to achieving my goals of working and travelling overseas, and I love my new work.
