Who will be Temp of the year 2009
Temporary workers can be the forgotten workers, as they are not part of the social network within the organisation, they don’t always have the time to make lasting friendships.

However they play a very important part in the employment market. They allow organisations to buy in talent for such times as emergency vacancies, planned vacancies and peak work loads.

We appreciate what our temps do on a daily basis and wish to recognize them in our annual Temp of the Year awards. These awards have been in place since 2004 and are highly recognised by employers and temps alike.

Temps gain different experiences and a plethora of knowledge and skills while on temporary assignments. This accumulation of training gives the temp transferable skills, thereby increasing there marketability.

Temporary work assignments offer more freedom to choose when and for how long to
work. For someone who is caring for children or ill relatives, is partially retired, or someone with other non-work interests, temporary work offers greater flexibility.

We have found that ninety percent of our temps are offered permanent employment within the company for which they are temping. This allows both parties to ensure the employment fit is right.

The temporary services employment market has grown over the past year. Explanations for this growth include the usual factors, increased competitive pressures on labour costs, volatility in product markets, decline of long term permanent jobs, downsizing and restructuring of organisations in the current economic climate.

This years nominees are: Shannelle Bowerman, Meg Hazell and Susan Appleton.

We wish our nominees all the best.
