Work & Training Ltd Nominated for Workplace Safety Awards "Best New Worker" Program
Posted on Monday, 26 October 2009
Work and Training is delighted with its nomination for the 2009 Workcover Workplace Safety Awards, in the” best new worker program” category.
As Work and Training is the largest employer of apprentices and trainees in Tasmania, the need to develop a relevant comprehensive new workers safety induction program was essential, particularly with the majority of employees in the high risk category of new workers.
The program forms a core part of safe work practices for all staff, trainees and apprentices and is an integral part of our OHS management system.
“With over 400 trainees and apprentices undertaking differing qualifications and trades, working in some 200 businesses statewide, the induction program needed to be relevant across all workplaces. The measure of the programs success is not only measured by being nominated for the Workplace Safety Awards, but more importantly significant decrease in workplace Injuries, even across high risk industries” John Lojek OHS Advisor
As part Work and Training ongoing training programs we offer comprehensive training courses in Forklift Training, Chainsaw, Job Safety Analysis, New Worker Inductions and Driver attitude training.
In moving into the future Work and Training is constantly presenting new worker safety programs, this includes online learning and the new Construction Industry White Card statewide which we are delivering statewide.
